Llyeton Hewitt defeats Roger Federer to win Brisbane final

Australian Lleyton Hewitt won the Brisbane Final title on home soil beating Swiss player Roger Federer in a pulsating 6-1 4-6 6-3 sets victory,his first win at home since Sydney 2005.

Hewitt, ranked No. 60 fought a come-back Federer to jump as high as No. 43 as both touched every angle of the court in a classic rivalry as far back as Halle 2010.

The first set had the Lleyton breaking the Swiss three times in tune with the Australian cover of "I Am Australian", on to a fore-hand down-the-line winner to a three Federer forced errors to the break serve.

Further as clear as his game resolve, Hewitt threw a backhand air-swing to take a 2-0 lead after just five minutes and using his backhand topspin lob and a strong forehand to claim the first set after just 27 minutes.

The second set had a vocal Federer come out racing to a 2-0 love lead and to a next break point before Hewitt's diving volley.

Hewitt brought back memories with a blistering forehand passing shot at a break-point chance at 4-3 which could have been the match winner.

Federer caught up on a 40-0 lead and broke serve for the first time in the match and continued the aces servings before finally an off-forehand winner that confirmed the second set 6-4.

Holding in vital opening service games, in which Federer gifted Hewitt five break-point chances, Hewitt strained to seesaw the pendulum and added two break points of his own, ensuring the third-set break lead to an ominous 4-1 advantage.

As purposeful also, Hewitt served the match winner to raise his hand in victory to the delight of the home crowd after 2hours 7minutes of play.

This year's attendances of 105 730 surpassed that of 2012,which was at 98,202
