Kanu Flies Four To India For Heart Surgeries


Kanu Heart Foundation, KHF has sent four Nigerians with heart related ailments to India for surgeries, former Super Eagles captain and founder of the foundation, Nwankwo Kanu has disclosed to Complete Sports.

The beneficiaries departed the shores of Nigeria on Boxing Day, December 26, 2013, the one time Arsenal of England leggy forward added.

"The gesture is a form of Christmas gift to the beneficiaries", Papilo added while pleading with all Nigerians to "please pray for the patients so that they can undergo successful operations."

Complete Sports understands that the trip was an all expenses paid by the foundation. Last year 2012, two patients benefitted from similar gesture.

Though Kanu did not disclose the total cost of flying the patients to India as well as other logistics involved, Complete Sports reports that Vikram Hospital, Max Hospital and Fortis Hospital are some of the hospitals where the KHF has been sending patients for heart related surgeries.

Papilo further disclosed that the Heal A Heart lottery promotion embarked upon by the foundation is still in progress with the tickets available at all Eco bank branches across the country at a cost of just N100.

"The promo of the Heal A Heart lottery is still going on. We want to raise funds for the Kanu Cardiac Hospital in Abuja so that we will start to carry out heart operations here in Nigeria", Papilo stressed.
