Brazil 2014: Shorunmu goes spiritual over Enyeama, others
…Insists he is not facing selection dilemma
From ROMANUS UGWU, Abuja
Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer, Ike Shorunmu, has expressed fears that only injury could truncate the plans of the Eagles technical crew to storm the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament with quality goalkeepers, petitioning God to help his foreign and home-based goalkeepers to remain injury  free before and during the world’s most glamorous tournament.
The Nigerian former international, who dropped the hint while fielding questions from journalists at the team’s camp recently, however, dismissed the impression that he would face selection dilemma due to the killer forms of Nigerian goalkeepers at home and in the  Diaspora.
On his expectation  over France-based Nigerian number one, Vincent Enyeama, Ike said: “I have said so much about Vincent and I don’t want to say much again. All I want to add is that he is doing well and a blessing to the Super Eagles and Nigeria  to be doing what he is doing in France.
“Well, I know very well that football is a game of contact. We are therefore praying for him and his colleagues to first remain injury free before and during the World Cup in Brazil. I’m sure that if they remain fit, they would make serious impact in the Brazil tournament,” he noted.
On whether he would face any selection dilemma in picking the three goalkeepers for the tournament, he replied: “The issue of dilemma is secondary because it is better we have a good team and reserve who can put the person on the post on his toes.
“Having quality goalkeepers would create severe pressure in the team, forcing everybody to perform. This is the only way we can give Nigeria the best selection for the World Cup tournament and in other competitive matches.”
